I have aspirations to grow my hair to bra strap length. I used to be fine having shoulder length hair, but it all changed when I wore a weave for about 6 months and realized that although I hated having the tracks on my head, I loved the length. The picture is of my first weave installation (which I loved). The hair wasn't the best, but it more resembled my hair than the Indian Remy hair I got for subsequent installs. Weaves are a tad too high maintenance for me. I know that sounds funny coming out of my mouth, but getting it done became a burden after awhile. I also began to worry about the health of my own hair so one day I took it out and never put it back in.
My hair has been arm pit length in the past and that is my current length goal. Currently my hair is between arm pit and collar bone length, and I haven't had a relaxer since September 2006. Although I have these aspirations, my most important hair goal is healthy hair which I feel like I have now. I've definitely suffered setbacks such as heat damage and breakage during this natural hair journey. Maintaining healthy hair though is a daily struggle which I don't always win, but the battle is still afoot.
