Curls Vs Waves

by - September 28, 2010

When I first started wearing curly styles I was on Team Twist-out, but ever since I got my major trim in July, I'm Team Braid-out. Most people can't tell the difference between the styles and it took me about a year to determine which one I liked and why. I like the the look of a  braid-out done on dry hair better because it gives me less shrinkage and some serious goddess waves. I feel like the trim made my hair an awkward length curly and the braid-out gives me an extra inch. Here is my hair right after I've taken the braids out, but before I fluff.

Braid-out
I adore the tousled bedhead look and putting about 9 big braids in my hair gives me that in spades. I usually do a twist-out right after I wash my hair because it takes less time to dry than braid-outs on wet hair. In addition, braid-outs on wet hair don't give me consistent results like twist-outs on wet hair do. This is how my hair looks before I fluff out my twist-out.

Twist-out
Usually I only wear the twist-out for about a day or two, then I alternate between braid-outs and double buns. For a month straight I was braiding my hair each night, but that got to be too time consuming. Now I only braid it every other day. I'm getting my hair trimmed and flat-ironed this week. Once I see the progress I made, I'll determine if I'll continue with this routine or get braids until Christmas. I'm really leaning towards the braid-out routine though right now because I love wearing my hair out.
