Movie Date
Confession time! I have been somewhat of a recluse. I usually have no problem rolling out solo, but lately I have been wanting company on my excursions. Don't even ask me why, but that has caused me to be posted up at home more than I like. Well, last week I went on a movie date to see Avatar in 3D at the new Sho.wplace Icon theaters in the South Loop. Why does each theater have a VIP section with a bar AND dedicated waitstaff?! My friend and I went for a 3:30 matinee, so I didn't think VIP was appropriate:-) I will definitely try it on a Friday movie date night in the future though. We sat one row in front of the VIP section so we were able to see what it looked like and there were a few people in there. The only thing that made me scratch my head was the assigned seating. When you purchase your ticket, you have to pick a seat and you are required to sit in your assigned seat like at a concert. Luckily, our theater was pretty empty, but the staff still showed us to our seats.
The movie was pretty good and I will definitely come here again, but this isn't replacing my usual theater. Has anyone else tried this new type of theater?
