Maintaining Relationships
I know that most of the people who read my blog have a vision board, but does everyone have a relationship section? My initial vision board had images of fabulous women and fabulous items, but I realized that not one picture showed a happy relationship?! Living alone and working from home can be a solo existence in and of itself, and I realized that my life was becoming all about me and my fabulous stuff. Last year I changed my vision board by adding two pictures of happy looking couples and one with a group of close-knit female friends. At the time I felt like my life was lacking in both the romantic and platonic relationship department and I made an effort to focus on that area. Suffice it to say that I think I attracted some good people into my life recently.
This year I won't make any relationship goals or resolutions, but I am trying to do a better job of maintaining the relationships I have with my friends. I think I have a tendency to not keep in touch with people like I should and that is not a good thing. On Saturday I was thinking about all the changes going on in my friends lives and I decided to reach out and call three of them. One I hadn't talked to in months and she informed me that she and her husband were expecting their second child! She lives in Dallas, so hopefully I can go see her when I go visit my parents this year. Since I am abstaining from Twit.ter and Faceb.ook for the month, this might become a regular Saturday occurrence
I consider myself a low maintenance friend, but I know that some of my friends need to hear from me more often in order to maintain bond. I sometimes find myself complaining that I feel isolated in Chicago, so hopefully this will alleviate some of that. I am no longer allowed to complain without doing something.
