Ah-Ha Moment
Today while I was deep-conditioning my hair, I decided to read a few of my favorite hair blogs. I ran across this blog by a Mom who shows styles on her daughter's natural 4a/3c hair. Since I have similar hair to her daughter I decided to look at what her regime is and to see if she had any special tips. She had a video in which she showed how to untangle her daughter's hair using primarily her fingers and I decided to FINALLY force myself to try it. It isn't something new, and I know plenty of naturals do it, but I don't. Usually I just rip the comb through my knots and end up with a lot of hair on the comb. If I do it, I usually get impatient after about 15 minutes. It took me 40 minutes to remove all the knots in my conditioner soaked hair using first my fingers and then a wide tooth comb, but the amount of hair lost was definitely less. I will be doing this once a week from now on.
