Jimmy Choo For H&M Mania
Today I waited in line for 3.5 hours for the Jimmy Choo for H&M launch at the Michigan Ave store. Yes, I know I'm crazy and it was cold as hell! I wouldn't do this for every fashion line though... I woke up with grand intentions at 4 AM, but I was dragging the entire morning. Although I intended to be in line at 5:30, I didn't get my butt in line until 6:30. I was a little bummed when I saw how long the line was. I went by myself, but most people went with friends. Events like this you definitely need a partner, but it didn't work out for me this time. Luckily the people near me in line were cool and often offered to get me coffee at the nearby Starbucks or hold my place. I was a little worried about my place in line. I wanted to be near the front because the first 160 people were getting special wristbands that allowed them to shop the shoes and accessories of this collection before anyone else. I was around number 145 when I got there, but there were probably a good number of people holding a place for their friends. By around 7:30, this was the line behind me.
By the time I left there, I felt like I had worked a full shift at H&M. I have never done anything like this before, but it was a good experience. I would do it again, but it would only be for a very high end luxury brand (e.g. if Karl Lagerfeld did another line). In terms of shopping, I am still looking for a pair of black leather knee boots and a cute pair of booties and then I am done with winter shopping. My wallet has offiically put me on timeout for the moment though.
