All in the Family

If you read my blog, you know that I have an older sister who lives in AZ and has a young son. My sister has been celibate and out of the dating scene for awhile. She had a traumatic breakup with my nephew's father and hasn't been keen to jump back in.

Since the beginning of the year, my sister has been having a long distance relationship with this guy who lives in MN. They met at a church conference and my female cousin introduced them and gave the dude my sister's number. They have been taking things slow and talking on the phone regularly. The church was planning a big conference/concert (which happened last week), so my sister and her man friend decided to kill two birds with one stone and use that weekend to see other. Throughout their courtship, my sister has been annoyed that my cousin has tried to remain a part of their relationship. My sister didn't trust my cousin's intentions for wanting to know about their courtship. She refused to talk to my cousin about it, so my cousin would talk to my sister's guy about what was going on with them.

Oh, let me give you the back story on my cousin. Her Dad and my Dad are actually best friends, but I call him Uncle and his kids are my cousins. Our families have been friends forever... My cousin got pregnant at 16 and went on to marry and have four kids with the same guy. He was crazy so they got divorced and he has been making her life hell ever since. My cousin is a pretty chocolate girl with a Buffy the Body booty. Men usually meet her and propose... To her booty!! LMAO!! My cousin is a minister at the church my sister attends. Her own father has told her that the pants she wears are not appropriate for a pastor to wear and she gets a lot of male attention!! Growing up my cousin and I were close and my sister was close to her older sister. Ever since I moved away my sister and this cousin have become friends.

So last week the dude my sister is dating was in town for the church conference/concert. My sister felt a weird vibe between our cousin and her dude. She was all stressed and seemed to be coming unglued. She wasn't sure if it was just some insecurity getting the best of her. My sister and her dude only got to see each other one day because he was busy doing church stuff with the senior pastor and my female cousin(who is the junior pastor). Dude left and apologized for being so busy helping the pastor out. My sister still felt like something was off, especially when she didn't hear from him the day after he got home.

Today my cousin called my sister and officially admitted she was attracted to her man friend and said she felt bad that they ended up spending so much time together. She told my sister, "do you know how many people I've dated? I've never had anyone like me for any other reason besides sex and he's interested in the same thing; nothing more." My sister's guy stated clearly to my cousin that while he found her attractive, it was my sister that he was looking at for marriage, a family, etc. She apologized to my sister for not being forthcoming about her attraction to him initially. My cousin met him first, but was the one who introduced him to my sister. It's her fault for giving away a dude she wanted! My sister hasn't spoken to dude but according to my cousin, he's working up the courage to call because he realizes he's screwed things up and doesn't know how to fix it.

My initial reaction was to put super glue in my cousin's weave tracks and cuss the dude out, but my sister is willing to work it out with both of them. Thanksgiving dinner this year will be a mutha and I am sure my cousin won't even be able to look me in the eyes! I love my cousin, but we grew apart because I feel that she is user. My sister is very nice to her and her four kids even helping them out financially if she can. I could care less about the dude because we have known our cousin since she was born and that comes before a dude.

I think we have all been attracted to friend's mate, but you just deal with it and move on. How do you suggest I advise my sister because she isn't receptive to the whole super glue thing?
