January 1, 2013

I wrote the following post on January 1, 2008. It was supposed to be my future self detailing what my life was like on the morning of January 1, 2013. Almost 3 years have passed and I recently re-read it to see if my life was on track. I see that in some areas I am, others I'm not. I'm just wondering where I'm going to find a husband at!

Today is January 1, 2013 and I am 35 years old. I have been married for over 2 years to the love of my life. We have one young child and I am pregnant with our second child. My niece lives with us throughout the school year. She spends a month during the summer with her maternal grandmother. She is preparing for high school and I am proud of the woman she is becoming.

I am self employed with two businesses. My primary job is a life coach and motivational speaker; I also continue to do technical consulting for the software company I founded and utilize the products in my other business. I take 2 months vacation each year. I need the time to decompress from my busy life.

My husband loves to take me on surprise trips and he has taught me how to relax and enjoy each day we spend together. He makes me laugh and ignores me when I am being a pain in the rear. He also tells me about myself when I need it, which is becoming less frequent. God truly had my back when he picked him for me. Did I mention he was sexy and fine!

My family and I recently moved into our dream home. The main house is 6000 square feet with a sizable in-law suite that my parents utilize when they are not in the home that my sister and I purchased for them. There is tennis court out back so I can play my sister or friends whenever they visit. We still have rental property from before our marriage that we rent out to family members in need.

Looking back at when I turned 30, I really began to worry about aging. I now see that I am getting better with age. I wish I had this hair and skin when I was 26. I started my hair journey at the age of 30. My goal was to grow healthy, thick, bra strap length hair and I did it. It has been past my bra strap for the last year, and besides an occasional henna treatment, I do not use chemicals. I either wear it curly or straighten out when I want to be sexy (which is often!). Before my second pregnancy I was in the best shape of my life. I plan to be there again. I would never have thought that I would be happier at 35 than I was at 30. But I am… Thank God!
