Lightning Strikes Twice

So long time no write. One day after my last blog post, my house got broke into for a second time.  I know, talk about lightning striking twice.

The day of the second break-in, the glass company came and fixed the broken sliding glass door in my bedroom.  It took almost a month to fix because I waited two weeks for my insurance check, then another two weeks for the glass to be special ordered.  I was super excited because the broken glass and boarded up door were a depressing sight.  The glass company workers left around 1 PM and at 3 PM I had an argument with a friend that drained me.  We decided to table the discussion because I was hungry and went to grab some food at 4 PM.  By the time I drove him home at 6 PM, I was ready to go home and rest.  I was almost home when I got a call from him.  The first words from his mouth were "Calm down...". I was confused as hell because our argument had been over for awhile.  He went on to inform me that the police found his number on my caller ID and called him looking for me.  My house had been broken into again!!

I raced home to find my building surrounded by police. On the way home, I called another friend to come over my house ASAP.  When I got there the police told me that they had arrested 2 juveniles for breaking into my home and that they had some things that may belong to me in my next door neighbor's yard.  After I identified my laptop and desktop I went upstairs to survey the damage.  They had attempted to break-in the same way as before, but the class company had installed security glass, so only the outside pane was broken.  I could see were they tried to kick open the inner glass and the brick they used to break the outer glass.  Since that didn't work, they decided to kick in my back door and knock it off the frame. I had started locking my office door since the last break-in and they kicked that door in also.  The friend who was with me stayed for about 45 minutes then he left.  I had the last police officer on the scene help me barricade my back door because it wouldn't shut properly and I was planning to spend the night.  I then got a call from the police at 8:30 saying that one of the juveniles had been released.  By this time, I was through for the day...

Although this was a bad deal, I can look at the bright side. My computers are my lively-hood and those were spared in this burglary attempt.  Also on my drive home, I was annoyed at the amount of traffic, but if it wasn't for the traffic, I may have come home to people breaking into my house.  I am currently pressing charges on both of the kids. The state's attorney's office wanted to put the younger one in a diversion program, but upon hearing that I wanted to pursue the charges, they decided to prosecute both of them.  They are both currently running around free awaiting trial, but I asked that a restraining order be put in place.  I now have a monitored alarm and am in the market for some security doors.  I also asked a realtor friend to look for a foreclosure unit that is comparable to mine, but further north.  If I am meant to move, God will make a way.
